As 'hot spots' seem to be changing randomly (as far as i can tell, even though some say it's 'depletion'. If it's depletion, why would the yield change if i stopped the program and restarted it. Do minerals just appear and disappear into thin air?...

Why are you chasing 'hot spots' Placing nodes at 'hot spots' do not yield you the most resources. As far as i can tell, the 'hot spots' change randomly and make no sense at all.
